I have followed this discussion board for several months. Thanks for all the great information. I have been crappie fishing for three years. I just leased a yearly lot at Country Junction. I am used to fishing at Eagle Creek and Swamp Creek.with the water being so much shallower,Is the fishing as good? I have made 20 PVC condos and am planning to put them out in the creek channel. Any information would be appreciated. Hopefully get to start fishing in a week or so, I'll let you know how I do.

firedog..

You stayin down or just on your days off?

You get your condos out hopefully in 2-3 wks. they will come.

I have heard that guys sand the pvc before putting them out, they say it helps to get the alge grow faster..

Hope you are not too late for this yr...hope- fully not.
Welcome aboard..

I have been here a couple yrs. been crappie fishing since I was a youngster..62 now..

I know its late putting ouy yhe condos its just the way it worked out.Im gonna focus on the deeper water.I drove up thursday 6th to start putting em out.Had everthing ready, tried to start motor before unloading, battery went dead in 2seconds!Tried trolling battery same thing, also felt like the neutral position on motor wasnt right.Stoped at reelfoot marine when i got back home.Had a bad cranking battery, low trolling battery.I had charged both on auto chargers the day before and both showed charged?Bad luck i guess. Also had a position bracket put on shift lever.Should be ready again.Bad weather Friday, worked at FD Sat.church sunday,Now kids out for spring break.Hopefully me and my son will get some out Monday. The only other thing to happen next is the wife start complaining!!

Has anybody been out lately on the lake? Plan on coming down and getting camper set up for the season. Hoping to hear a little on water temperature and lake level? Like to fish a few days this weekend if things go good. (I am from IN also......sure would love to change my address!) That hydrografix map of Bigsandy is a sweet deal! LH

LH;

Some guys have been out, an doing a good job at catching fish...

I think the water level is 357' here is link to check the level.

http://www.tva.com/river/lakeinfo/op_guides/kentucky.htm

Pretty sure 359' is summer pool..I think the recent rain brought the lake up.

Really don't know water temp...But it looks like they are catching fish...

Good Luck....

Where bouts in Indiana you from?

bought the topo and sidescan (Big sandy South) a couple weeks ago. The topo is is very detailed compared to my gps chip. The sidescan will show good bends, points, and plenty of structure. well worth time and $. LH

Is anyone fishing the Crappie USA tournament on March 29 ? I am guessing if they get lake level stable it will take 14 lb stringer to stay in top 5 ? L.H.
