I got 4 straight days of fishing last week. Sounds great right. Even better, I've got friends coming in from Michigan and Texas for this trip. Big trip and I've got to catch some fish. Well, the first morning I'm rolling along with my little trolling motor, then all of the sudden there's a distinct snap. That morning's finished. We get to the house and find out the cable is snapped. I've still got three days left. Even better it's a Sunday, so getting a part is impossible.

All was not lost my friends. I used the most valuable tool you can keep in your fishing toolbox. That's right, lots of duct tape. Got that trolling motor rolling once again with the tape and a metal rod. I'll forward the exact plans for anyone interested in converting their basic trolling motor to a hoopdee style. However, you need really calm winds for these to not drive you crazy. I'm hitting the power button with one foot, kicking the metal rod with the other and holding two rods. Looked like a puppeteer out there. But, it got me through all 4 days. Good old duct tape.

man...i've seen it all now...i may have located you a cable...we got a trade in the works with a boat that was in the tornado...bracket is broke but the cable is fine..let you know if we get it..

Let me know if you get that cable pappa and thanks for your help the other day. Despite making it through with that contraption, it's not a good long term solution. Kind of takes the relaxation out of fishing when you're fighting that thing.
