Wind blew us off the lake for the most part this week. So, we went over to the steam plant on the Cumberland to try for some skipjack and white bass. I've never been there before. When we got there we found out we needed to forget about those fish and try the stripers. Used shad for the most part, but also used flukes, ratl traps, jigs and others.

Caught a lot of the 3 to 4 pounders after we figured it out and caught one nice one. One guy we saw had one that should have gone 30+. Will try and post more info if anyone is interested.

It was a blast. They fight very hard and the current makes the fight even better. Will definitely have to try it again sometime.

Yep, 2 over 15 inches. Most are over that anyhow. I guess the 6 pictured are from Wednesday. We caught a bunch that day, probably 30 or more. I'm not a big fan of eating stripes and the such, but we grilled that big one and it was mighty tasty.

They came up surface feeding about 7 Wednesday morning and it was something else. Didn't do so well Thursday, but still got our limit pretty quickly.

Man I'm tellin ya, it was some fun stuff.

there fun to catch..we got into some big uns down at the mouth of the duck river a few years ago..probly the most fun i've had fishin..they dont eat too bad if you cut that center stripe out of the meat..cuttin of their tails and bleeding them out helps a lot..

Yeah, the key to stripes is to remove the red meat as far as we've found out. There is a lot of it on them, especially that big one. Get rid of that and it's good eating.
